Marcellin House

The proposed development involves conservation and adaptive reuse of the original Marcelin House in Historic Maillardville, Coquitlam BC as well as subdivision of the original lot in order to accommodate a new single family home. Situated on a quiet street in the heart of Coquitlam, with convenient access to all major transportation, the development is within walking distance to a great mix of schools, parks, shopping, and community centers.

Heritage values:
This historic Marcellin Residence was built at 225 Begin Street in 1932, within the historic Maillardville neighbourhood of Coquitlam. Maillardville is an active French-Canadian community that values and promotes its francophone heritage. This is evident in Heritage Square, nearby the subject property, which consists of Place des Arts, the Mackin House Museum, and the Fraser Mills Station Museum. They comprise “an important symbol of the community’s pride in the past” (Heritage Strategic Plan, City of Coquitlam,2001).
