Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design development of projects and produce complete sets of working drawings, graphic presentations and 3 D visualizations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Resolve complex design and technical issues.
  • Coordinate and assist the Project Manager with project meetings with clients and consultants.
  • Advance in-house technical and quality standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of specifications and addenda.
  • Assist the Project Manager in all project phases, from concept through contract administration and close-out.
  • Assist in other technical, administrative and general duties as required.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and supervision to team members.
  • Review shop drawings, coordinate RFI responses and perform field reviews.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the relevant standards and codes.
  • Travel to clients and project sites across BC as required.
  • Participate in relevant continuing education opportunities.
  • Contribute to team culture and model our core values.

Skills RequiredThe ideal candidate will be a talented and well-rounded individual who enjoys design and technical elements and holds a degree in Architecture or Design Technology. Time management and the ability to contribute to meeting deadlines are expected attributes

Qualifications:

  • Experience (minimum 5 years post-graduation) in an architectural office environment.
  • Experience in Residential and/or mixed-use projects
  • Experience in significant project phases from concept through construction completion.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member, and to take direction well.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented and dependable, taking ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop construction drawing packages including construction and millwork drawings.
  • Experience with and interest in tenant improvements.
  • Strong design, graphic and presentation skills, including the ability to translate ideas from concept to detailed drawings.
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Sketchup, Enscape or other rendering programs as well as Photoshop, InDesign and MS Office
  • Excellent understanding of BC Building Code, Vancouver Building Code Bylaws, and basic building envelope concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A desire to gain real-world skills that will aid you throughout your career.
  • Self-motivated individual capable of assuming increasing responsibility for both current and future projects and who is interested in growing with the firm.

Job Type: Full-time. Monday – Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects
  • Manage projects to achieve client satisfaction, quality deliverables, schedule, and budgeting objectives
  • Work with Project Team and Principal to create and execute project work plans, manage resources and effectively deliver projects
  • Coordinating sub-consultant’s team and oversee the production of technical working drawings
  • Assume responsibilities for technical and design excellence
  • Direct team members to document production through all phases – design through CA
  • Work on multiple projects at the same time and/or lead team to complete each project
  • Accountable for quality control, project execution, maintaining timelines and budgets
  • Good working knowledge of local bylaws, codes and relevant planning materials
  • Role includes contract administration, field services, in addition to preparing meeting minutes and project schedules
  • Act as the point of contact who communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, city staff, and other third parties who are involved in the projects’ process

Skills RequiredThe ideal candidate will be a talented Project Manager who will take the lead on various projects through all project stages; design through construction, has strong communication skills, knowledge of building code and building science, has a collaborative approach and is a team player. Time management and the ability to contribute to meeting deadlines are attributes expected from all employees at JKA.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture from accredited institution
  • Registered with or eligible to register with AIBC
  • Experience (minimum 5 years) of project coordination within a related field
  • Experience working within teams in a similar capacity; providing support to multiple projects
  • Experience in maintaining project documentation, particularly project management tracking tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to communicate effectively and follow up with staff at all levels of an organization
  • Excellent professional and proposal writing skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn
  • Highly collaborative and a strong team player
  • Experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project, MS SharePoint (desirable)
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Indesign and various graphic software.
