about

Jordan Kutev Architect Inc. [JKA] is an innovative Architectural practice based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada with a reputation for inspired, high-performance buildings and sustainable developments.

We are proud to be known as a well diversified practice - one that offers practical solutions to a multitude of design and construction related issues as evidenced by our portfolio of past projects of varying size, scope and complexity.

We believe that problem solving can only begin once a problem has been properly identified. Our design ideas and concepts are borne from a distinctive “problem-seeking approach” that involves posing a series of unique, yet relevant questions to each and every project. The final answers and design solutions are drawn only after tirelessly interviewing and gathering input from all of the stakeholders. A project’s final defining scheme is a direct collaboration between the clients’s building aspirations and our extensive knowledge of building typology and context.

featured projects

By earning a reputation of being a leading design firm that pays close attention to sustainability, JKA was engaged to design the new Canada Pavilion & Trade Showroom in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai, China.

The Canadian Pavilion is intended to showcase some of the best and most innovative sustainable design practices and construction techniques from the West Coast of Canada. These modern Architectural methods will incorporate local materials and construction systems such as transparency and natural lighting through extensive glazing and double volume interior space, west coast wood through exposed Gluelam structural columns and beams and pine beetle reused lumber incorporated into exterior cladding materials, interior soffits and ceilings.

The intent of the design team for the facility is to integrate as many sustainable design elements as possible including a geothermal system, roof-mounted solar panels, low-flow toilet and shower heads, energy efficient EnergyStar appliances, lighting system dimmers, fully-programmable thermostat timers and exterior lighting motion sensors.
